When does pre-emergent application typically open in Santa Fe, TX?

Pre-emergent application typically opens in April to May for Santa Fe, TX, when 2-inch soil temperature reaches the 50–55°F threshold for several consecutive days. Apply earlier than that and the herbicide degrades before crabgrass germinates; apply later and weeds have already sprouted. This is informational guidance only, not a prescription. What grass types grow best in Santa Fe, TX?

Santa Fe, TX is primarily a warm-season climate.
